Terms of use
Draft, awaiting legal review Version of 13 October 2026
A lawyer has not checked this text yet, and the details in square brackets are missing. It does describe how the app really works. Paid Plus also has its own Plus subscription terms. This is a translation of the Czech draft; while it is a draft, the Czech version is authoritative.
Who runs the app
Buduji se is run by Jan Kadlec, [address – to be completed], company ID (IČO) [to be completed], [trade register entry – to be completed]. Contact: ahoj@buduji.se.
These terms apply to everyone who uses Buduji se, with or without an account. How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy. Paid Plus is also covered by the Plus subscription terms.
What Buduji se is
A diary for personal growth: the day in three thirds (sleep, work, time for yourself), morning priorities, an evening look back, habits, plans and an 8-week suggested path. It counts no streaks and never punishes missed days.
It works on the web (app.buduji.se) and as an Android app we distribute through Zapstore. On iPhone, the web app works for now, even as a Home Screen icon. An iPhone app may come later.
The whole diary is free. Some features that cost us money to run (such as splitting the day by your calendar, backup and sync) are in paid Plus.
Beta
The app is in development (beta). Features may change, be added or disappear, and some things may not work. During the beta everything is free, including what will later be in Plus.
So back up your diary now and then with an export (see below). [For legal review: limiting warranty and liability towards consumers in a free beta.]
Not a medical device
Buduji se is for self-reflection. Your sleep times, the day split, the evening look back and the half-year check-in with the questions of the WHO-5 well-being index are not a diagnosis or treatment and do not replace a doctor or a psychologist. The check-in result is not a test, just a look back.
If the check-in comes out low (50 out of 100 or less), the app suggests talking to your doctor or a psychologist, or calling the emotional support line 116 123, which is free and open around the clock. If a life is in danger, call 112.
[For legal review: whether computing the WHO-5 score and suggesting professional help falls under Regulation (EU) 2017/745 on medical devices, see A4.]
An account is optional
The whole diary works without an account. You need an account (sign-in with Google) only for backup and sync across devices, and for Plus. Your entries go to the server only with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
You may use Buduji se if you are at least [15 – for legal review: 15 or 18] years old. Keep your Google account safe: whoever gets into it can see your diary too.
A diary only on your device
Without an account, or without consent to sync, your diary is only on your phone or in your browser. We have no copy and cannot restore it. If you lose your phone, uninstall the app or clear your browser data, your entries are gone.
Backing up such a diary is up to you. Exporting the whole diary is free: Settings › Data › Export data. Keep the file somewhere other than your phone.
How to use the app
Buduji se is for your personal use. Please do not try to overload or disrupt the app or the server, get around the limits of the free version, get into other people’s accounts or send automated bulk requests. [For legal review: a ban on reverse engineering to the extent the law allows.]
We do not read your entries. But if someone seriously breaks these terms, for example by attacking the server, we may restrict or close their account. Unless that risks harm, we warn them first.
Availability
We try to keep the website, the app and the server running, but in the beta we cannot guarantee it. The server may be down or under maintenance. The diary on your device works offline too, and changes sync once the server is back.
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for the loss of data that is only on your device, or for harm from the app not working for a while. [For legal review: the extent of limiting liability towards consumers.]
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we let you know in the app at least [30 – to be completed] days ahead and say what changes. If you disagree with a change, you can stop using the app and delete your account. Small fixes that change nothing about your rights we may make right away.
Stopping
You can stop at any time. You delete your account in Settings › Data › Delete account: the account and all your entries on the server are deleted. The diary on your device goes when you uninstall the app or clear your browser data. You can export it first.
If we ever shut Buduji se down, we will tell you in the app and by e-mail at least [60 – to be completed] days ahead. Export keeps working until then, so you do not lose your diary.
Copyright
The app, its texts (stories, monthly challenges, questions), the 24-hour dial logo and the illustrations belong to the operator or are used with permission. The texts are our own, not taken from other diaries or books. You may use them in the app for yourself, not copy and pass them on.
The illustrations of the Cypherpunk look were made with AI from the style reference of the illustrator Juraj, who gave his written consent. [For legal review: the scope of the consent and protection of AI output, see A16.]
The half-year check-in questions come from the WHO-5 well-being index (© World Health Organization). [For legal review: the WHO-5 licence, see A5.]
Your entries are yours. We use them only to make the diary work, as described in the privacy policy.
Inspiration, not affiliation
Buduji se is inspired by Tomáš Baťa and his idea of building yourself, together with current science. It is not affiliated with Bata or with the foundations bearing Tomáš Baťa’s name, and none of them supports or endorses it.
If your employer gives you the app
Your employer never sees your entries: not your priorities, mood, sleep, habits, the colleague question or the half-year check-in. There is no view for employers or administrators.
If a company ever gets anything, it will only be aggregate statistics over a group large enough that no one in it can be singled out [to be completed: minimum group size]. We will tell you clearly and beforehand in the app itself, not only here. You can turn the statistics off at any time in Settings without any consequence, and the company will not learn who did. A company version does not exist yet; its own terms for companies [to be completed].
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Czech law. If you are a consumer, you keep all the rights the law of the country where you live gives you and that a contract cannot take away.
If you are not happy with something, write to us at ahoj@buduji.se and we will sort it out. A consumer dispute can also be settled out of court with the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (adr.coi.cz), which also supervises us as a business. Personal data protection is supervised by the Czech data protection authority, Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů (uoou.gov.cz). [To be verified: the competent ADR body, its address, and whether consumer law requires more details.]
While these terms are a draft, the Czech version is authoritative. [For legal review: the contract language for English-speaking users, see A13.]
